“Stars & Wine” at the Volkssternwarte Observatory in Bonn

On 2 October, we are proud to preset a very special event called “Stars and Wine” in cooperation with Paul Hombach at the Volkssternwarte observatory in Bonn.

“Wine is sunlight, held together by water,” as the great astronomer Galileo Galilei put it. On 2 October, we will follow in his footsteps on a journey to the stars and to wines – and discover the connections between the two.

On this journey will take us from Padua and Florence to the planets of our solar system which Galilei studied. Then, we will track the stars from Santiago di Compostela to the far reaches of the Milky Way. And would you have thought that the Bonn astronomers have a special connection to the subject wine?

Peter Wollmann, a finance industry manager from Bonn – and wine enthusiast -, will explain all about the wines and present fascinating facts and details.

Paul Hombach, astronomer, musician, author makes the connection of the topic wine with the stars. With his “astrotainment”, he manages to convey a feeling for the sheer size and beauty of the universe in an entertaining way.

The evening will start out with a glass of Prosecco DOCG and snacks, followed by the first half of the talk about astronomy. Then we will present the first red wine. After the second half of the talk there will be another red wine and small snacks, so you can while away the evening talking about wine and space.

The event ends around 9 pm.
